What does ACTS stand for?
ACTS is and acronym for “Area Congregations Together in Service.”
What is ACTS' purpose?
ACTS is a broad spectrum of inter faith congregations working together in Greater Richmond to prevent homelessness. ACTS is a central location where staff and trained volunteers work together to help people seeking emergency financial assistance. We provide rent, mortgage, utility and other emergency payments as needed in order for families and individuals to remain in their housing.
Who can use your service?
ACTS receives referrals from our internal network of partners. Clients typically must be at risk of homelessness, behind in their payments, and facing temporary financial crises. Clients are screened based on the likelihood that they can self-sustain once they receive our help.
What area do you serve?
ACTS service area includes all of Greater Richmond with most referrals coming from Richmond City, Henrico County, Chesterfield County and Hanover County.
How much financial assistance can a client receive?
ACTS' goal is to help the client overcome its current crisis completely. Our purpose is to avoid providing just a “band aid” solution. Therefore, the amount of assistance that can be granted is generally higher than most other agencies or ministries.
How does my church or congregation become a partner with ACTS?
If your congregation is interested, please call Peggy Tucker, Case Manager at (804) 249-5431 and let her know of your interest. The process is very simple and he will gladly meet with any representatives of your congregation and provide all the necessary information. ACTS has a small packet of information that can be emailed or mailed to you right away. This packet contains several documents which fully explains about becoming a partner.
